these things happen everyday.

ex·pec·ta·tion (ek-spek-tey-shuhn) [noun]
1.) the act or state of expecting (anticipation)
2.) (a) something expected (b) basis for expecting
(c) prospects of inheritance
3.) the state of being expected

4.) (a) expectancy (b) exptected value

according to wikipedia, in the case of uncertainty, expectation is what is considered most likely to happen. an expectation is a belief that is centered on the future...it may or may not be realistic. a less advantageous result gives rise to the emotion of disappointment. if something unexpected happens the result is surprise.

orange juice and glamour shots.

i sit here with the biggest headache from sinus pressure i can remember in a long time, it is accompanied by it's close friend the dreded runny nose. i have a midterm tomorrow that i am having an extremely hard time studying for due to these nasty little buggers. but what can i do besides buckle down, blog, "study" and drink a large glass of orange juice (enriched with calcium, of course...i don't want osteo and we all know that consuming vitamin c along with calcium helps the calcium absorb into your bones...duh).

this weekend i went to tulsa with two of my best friends and last night we got the urge to play with our hair and make up and take glamour shots (the inspiration for this will be left un-named due to the fact that it can be easily taken the wrong way). anyway...as we were all three crammed in the bathroom, teasing, spraying, straightening and curling our hair, applying powder, blush, eye shadow, and curling eyelashes to be coated in mascara i was reminded of a night i had this summer. this summer i lived with my parents for the first time in a while. one night i was home alone and found myself in my parents bathroom, sitting on the counter with my feet in the sink and my face in front of the mirror. i had my mom's make up drawer open and pulled out every ounce of make up she owned. see, when i was a little girl i used to love sneaking into my parents bathroom to play with my mom's make up. i would try on every single shade of lipstick, every shade of eye shadow and every other kind of make up i came across until my face was almost raw from washing and rubbing off make up to try the next shade. i had no idea what i was doing back then and probably looked like a clown, but it didn't matter. i had on my mom's make up and felt beautiful! so, this summer as i was sitting on the counter i realized that i had tried out every shade of every type of make up my mom had. i was instantly reminded of my childhood and realized that there really are some things in life that you never quite grow out of...

this weekend doing that with two of my best friends made me happy to see that, although we are 22 years old we still love to do some of the same things we loved to do when we were little girls.

what am i so afraid of?

hmm...things have been strange as of late. and i when i say 'things' i don't mean the happenings that have been going on around me, or the way my stomach feels since i over-ate acambaro at lunch...but rather, the things that have been going on inside me. my feelings and thoughts...it's all quite confusing, really. these strange things aren't necessarily a 'bad' strange, however, i'm not too fond of the way it leaves me feeling when i conciously think about those things. maybe it's because i feel as though things are changing, and i'm unsure about it...but then i think...when are things not changing? i like change. so what in the world am i so scared of? what am i so afriad of? oh well. whatever it is, i just need to get over it and live, and praise God for the fact that he can see so much more down the road than i can.
and this turns fear to peace.
- anyway, that's just a bunch of non-sense about me today. tomorrow will be worlds different. i am sure of it.

when girls were girly and boys were...boys.

So...while writing a paper that's due tomorrow, the thought occured to me-what better time to post than now?!

Earlier this week I was sitting back, relaxing and eating dinner when I started flipping channels. I came across Back to the Future 2 and naturally I left it there. I started watching it...until it was over.

If I had my own little DeLorean, I think I'd go to the 1950's...when things seemed simple and sweet. When girls were girly and boys were...boys. Not to say I want to backtrack to where women had no rights or anything like that, but just for the sake of the simplicity of what life seemed to be like. Although, I'm sure life wasn't really all that simple or sweet. I'm going to act like it was for now because I've always loved that era...since I was a little girl. I loved the way they dressed, the way they fixed their hair, the idea of real malt shops, and sock hops. Or maybe it's the music that makes me intrigued with that era? I mean, The Everly Brothers, The Five Satins, The Shirelles, The Drifters, Dion and the Belmonts, and Maurice Williams and the Zodiacs...I love it all. I can't help it.

that's all.
